Robert Mapplethorpe (Self Portraits)

     Robert Mapplethorpe's photographs are very unique and are all very different from one another. He has different types of photographs that he produces on his website. He has self portraits, male nude and female nude portraits, still life, flowers, and color along with other different categories. The first thing that catches my eye when looking at his different pictures are how lively they look. It almost makes you feel as if you're there in that exact moment in real time. The pictures feel so alive that you can almost touch it in a sense. With each picture that you see, every image has a different and unique pose that you don't see on an everyday basis. He makes each picture have meaning and is interesting to look at. Most of his portraits and self portraits are done in black and white which gives it an old era feeling/look which makes the picture more interesting to me. He makes his self portraits look different as compared to just taking an ordinary picture of yourself. His self portraits have meaning behind and makes it quite like a mystery to see what is the meaning behind the image.
